1. The opening ceremony of the course will be on 21 May  2012 and the closing ceremony will be on 9 June 2012.
2. Participants are expected to arrive at the Centre on 21 May  2012 at 12 noon and leave on 10 June 2012. All participants are strongly requested to attend the opening ceremony.
3. List of required documents and guide for Indonesian participants related to the conduct of the course will be sent via email on 11 May 2012. If you have not submitted your email, kindly confirm your email to qitepinmath@yahoo.com.
4. Few of Indonesian applicants for the course could not be reached as they did not provide telephone number or the number provided cannot be contacted.

SE Asian teachers learn math teaching in Yogya

A group of 10 third grade students of state-run elementary school SDN Serayu Yogyakarta looked to be really enjoying a math class that was being taught to them by a Malaysian teacher on Wednesday, as a number of other teachers observed the class.

Language did not seem to bother the teacher or the students as the class was held in English. Jokes were often heard as the teacher gave assignments and the students did what they were asked to do.

SEAMEO QITEP IN MATH CONDUCTS REGIONAL COURSE ON
DEVELOPING LESSON STUDY IN MATHEMATICS EDUCATION
IN YOGYAKARTA

P4TK Matematika Auditorium, Yogyakarta

Prof. Drs. Subanar, Ph.D., Director of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization - Regional Centre for Quality Improvement of Teachers and Education Personnel in Mathematics (SEAMEO QITEP in Math), has officially opened a three-week course on Developing Lesson Study in Mathematics Education on 24 April 2012 in the PPPPTK Matematika auditorium in Yogyakarta. The course which will run until 12 May is participated by 24 primary school teachers,, including 10 from teachers from Cambodia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Course on Joyful Learning in Mathematics Education was Successfully Conducted by QITEP in Mathematics

QITEP in Mathematics (QiM) has conducted Course on Joyful  Learning in Mathematics Education from 26 March to 15 April 2012. There were 24 primary school teachers from 6 among 11 SEAMEO Member Countries consisted of 1 participant from Cambodia, 2 participants from Lao PDR, 2 participants from Malaysia, 1 participant from Thailand, 2 participants from the Philippines, and 15 participants from Indonesia. The aim of this course is to help the participants to develop and create joyful learning environtment  in mathematics education.  At the end of this course, participants produced lesson plan and published proposal of action plan.

This course was officially opened by Director of QiM, Prof. Subanar, Ph.D., on 27 March 2012 at the Auditorium of PPPPTK Matematika (Centre for Development and Empowerment of Mathematics Teachers and Education Personnel). In his remark, Prof. Subanar, Ph.D. welcomed all participants and hoped that they would follow all  activities during the course.
