SEAMEO Council President's Visit to QITEP in Mathematics and PPPPTK Matematika Yogayakarta
The Minister of Education of Brunei Darussalam, as The President SEAMEO Council, H.E. Pehin Abu Bakar Apong made an official visit to SEAMEO Regional Centre for QITEP in Mathematics on Thursday, 5 July 2012. This is a visit he did after attending East Asia Summit: 1st Education Ministerial Meeting 2012, at Sheraton Mustika Hotel Yogyakarta on 3-5 July 2012.
The purposes of the visit were to have closer look on QITEP in Mathematics and to celebrate the third anniversary of three SEAMEO Regional Centers in Indonesia; QITEP in Language, QITEP in Mathematics, and QITEP in Science. The President of SEAMEO Council was accompanied by Dato Mahmud Hj Saidin (the Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam for Indonesia), Dr. Wittaya Jeradechakul (the director of SEAMEO Secretariat), officers of the Ministry of Education of Brunei Darussalam and officers of Bureau of Planning and International Cooperation of Ministry of Education and Culture of Indonesia, and they were welcomed at QITEP in Mathematics by the Director, Deputy Director for Administration, and Deputy Director for Programme of the three QITEPs, the representative of the Head of PPPPTK Matematika, and the Head of PPPPTK Seni Budaya.
Dra. Ganung Anggraini, M.Pd., as the representative of the Head of PPPPTK Matematika welcomed all the delegates and hoped that the visit would bring some benefit not only for the three QITEPs but also for PPPPTK Matematika. On behalf of the three QITEPs, Prof. Subanar, the Director of SEAMEO QITEP in Mathametics expressed his gratitude to H.E. Pehin Abu Bakar Apong for the visit and his concern about the future of SEAMEO Centres.
After the official ceremony, all delegates with officers of PPPPTK Matematika and the three QITEPs toured around the campus to see the supporting units in PPPPTK Matematika.
In the evening, all delegates and officials of QITEP in Language, QITEP in Mathematics, QITEP in Science, and PPPPTK Matematika had a dinner to celebrate the 3rd anniversary of three QITEPs in the auditorium of PPPPTK Matematika. The President of SEAMEO Council, H.E. Pehin Abu Bakar Apong do the Potong Tumpeng tradition and continued by exchange souvenir. While all the delegates enjoyed their dinner, they could enjoy the performance of three dances; Senyum Indonesia, Saman, and Menak. After dinner, all the delegates left PPPPTK Matematika to the Hotel.
