In fiscal year 2013, SEAMEO Regional Centre for QITEP in Mathematics will conduct some courses to develop teachers’ ability in Mathematics Education. Below is the list and brief description of the courses.

A course  using contextual problems and real-life situations to constitute and to apply mathematical concepts

 

  1. Candidates should be mathematics teachers/supervisors  actively enggaged in Mathematics teachers/supervisors/principals working groups such as KKG and MGMP (for Indonesian) and should be proven by the official letter from teachers working group organisation and taken by the chairman.
  2. Candidates should possess  English proficiency in speaking as well as writing proven with a minimum TOEFL score of 425 or minimum IELTS score of 5 ( for Indonesian candidates, the committee will contact them to have an interview session)
  3. On the starting date of the course,  teachers should not be more than 50 years old. Candidates should be physically and mentally health proven by  medical letter from reputable health institution and should not be in expectant mother condition (for female candidates) by attaching medical letter to affirm their condition. Candidate should apply for the course by sending  CV, and other required documents as above to course@qitepinmath.org. Please mention your current mobile number as well as  email for further contact.
  4. Non-Indonesian candidates may send the the documents of application through the Ministry of Education of respective country.

The quota of participants for each course is 24 with 14 Indonesian participants and 1 overseas participant from each of SEAMEO member countries other than Indonesia. The accomodation, meals and transportation of the courses are fully funded by DIPA PPPPTK Matematika fiscal year 2013.

General Information of the Courses

  1. Participant requirements:

    1. Proficiency in English (a certified copy of participants' proficiency in English must be attached with the course application form). The TOEFL score minimum is 425, or 5 for IELTS minimum score.

    2. Must be in excellent health condition (a medical certificate, accomplished by a government physician certifying that participant is medically fit for four week programme, is to be attached to the course application form).

    3. Should not be more than 50 years of age.

    4. Should not in expectant mother condition (for female participants)

    5. The completed application form of the nominated candidates should be sent either by fax (+62 274 885752; 887222) or email to the Centre (qitepinmath@yahoo.com).

  2. Course Requirements:
    1. Mathematics curriculum documents from participant's country.

    2. Articles on actual/recent issues on mathematics education in Primary or Secondary School (in line with the course attended) in participant's country.

    3. Mathematics text books for Primary or Secondary School (in line with the course attended) used in participant's school

  3. Terms and Conditions of Scholarship:
    1. Air Passage:

       

      1. The Centre will refund economy class air-ticket from capital city or nearest International Airport from participant's office/school/work station to Yogyakarta and back. For the reimbursement purpose, please submit to the centre, the following documents:

         

        1. the ticket;
        2. the receipt of the ticket payment;
        3. boarding pass;
        4. letter of assigmnet/endorsementfrom the participant’s institution; and
        5. form of official trip (attached)
      2. For Indonesian participants, the Centre will refund the cost of economic-clas transportation from participant's home city or town to Yogyakarta and back.

    2. Accommodation, Food, and Attire:

      1. The Centre will provide accommodation for participants at QITEP in Math House. The rooms are of double occupancy. The Centre has the right to allocate room-mates to the participants.

      2. Meal allowance will be provided.

      3. All participants are expected to be properly dressed for classes.

  4. Arrival

    In general, participants are expected to arrive in Yogyakarta one (1) day before the course starts and to depart one (1) day after the course is over.

    For non-Indonesian participants, pick up service to the Centre will be provided at Yogyakarta Adisucipto Airport. For that purpose, kindly fill the arrival date and flight details on the registration form.

  5. Understanding Southeast  Asia Culture

    1. Participants are expected to give a cultural presentation (e.g. dance, drama, and the like) that represents the culture of participants' countries. It is expected that participants could come prepared with the supporting items (such as costumes, musical instruments, etc) for the presentation. The Centre does not pay for the items.

    2. Participants are expected to bring 24 little souvenirs from their country, to be exchanged to the other participants' souvenirs in the cultural night program.

  6. Passport and Visa
    1. Non-Indonesian participants must possess valid passports for travel purposes.

    2. Exit permit for nominated participants (except for Indonesians) must be obtained from participants' own Government.

    3. Entry visa for nominated participants (except Indonesian and SEAMEO member countries that have bilateral agreement with Indonesia on ‘free visa’ policy) into Indonesia must be obtained from the Indonesia Embassy in the participants’ country. The visa should be a minimum of 4 weeks to cover the 3-week period of the course, with multiple entries for the participants. If there is fine for participant who has visa less than 3 weeks, it will be the participants' responsibility. The Centre will send the participants a letter of acceptance to help expedite the visa application process when the participants' names from the respective Ministries of Education are received.

  7. Other Requirements

    All participants should also bring and submit to the Center

    1. Letter of official endorsement (letter of assignment) from their government/school
    2. The form of official trip (the form and fulfilling guide are attached)

QITEP in Mathematics is one of the SEAMEO (Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization) Regional Centres.
